Sequel Stallions New York will hold an open house Sunday, Jan. 19, from 12-4 p.m. at the farm in Hudson. Originally scheduled as a stallion show with a sit-down dinner and giveaways, the format has changed to a light lunch with stallions shown throughout the day. For every contract signed on site and for every winner of a stallion season raffle, Sequel will donate $100 on behalf of the breeder to the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA) and will match the total at the end of the day.
“We have received so much feedback from our breeders regarding the tragedy in Peru and our beloved stallion, The Lieutenant,” said Sequel owner Becky Thomas. “While we are heartbroken, there is nothing that we can do about it. What we can do is to help raise money for an excellent program that helps horses here in the United States.”
The Lieutenant (Street Sense), a half-brother to Justify (Scat Daddy) who stood his first season at Sequel in 2019 before shuttling for the southern hemisphere season, was one of four stallions killed recently in Peru.
Stallions standing for the 2020 season at Sequel are Freud, Destin, Laoban, Mission Impazible, Stephanoatsee, and Union Jackson. A raffle will be held the Friday after the open house. For more information, visit the farm's website or call (800) 925-2916.
